At the beginning of March, I went to Laguna Beach for the opening of LVAM’s Las Vegas Diaspora exhibition at the Laguna Art Museum. I was looking forward to soaking up some sun and hanging out at the beach, but Orange County proved to live up to every bad stereotype of Southern California. It was a very bizarre trip and there were far too many surfer dudes with long scraggly hair and girls walking around in skimpy dresses and Ugg boots for my liking. I decided that I’m definitely a Northern California girl!

The beach was beautiful, especially around 7 am on Sunday morning when I went on a 4-mile run/walk along the empty shoreline. I found all of these cool tidal pools filled with tons of sea anemone, clams and mussels. There were also some incredible houses with private access to secluded coves that made me wish I lived on the beach.
